Did you know these few things will make your face look puffy and bloated no matter what age you are:
• Salty, processed carbs
• Alcohol
• Untreated allergies
• Hormonal changes brought by PMS or pregnancy
• Lack of sleep or not sleeping in the right position
Here are some easy and proven ways to minimize puffiness and, in some cases, bid it goodbye forever.
Minimize salt and alcohol
We’re not saying throw out all your chips and salsa and never again have another drink….well,
that would be ideal. Instead, minimize consumption of salt and
alcohol and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated while satisfying
your salt cravings or enjoying that Friday night cocktail. Also
substitute your regular seasonings for some salt-free seasonings
that often taste just as good. Check the sodium content on pre-packaged
foods. Salt and alcohol both dehydrate the skin and the more
dehydrated you are, the harder your skin will try to hold on
to the fluid,
resulting in bloating.
Maximize sleep and choose the right position
Most of us already know that getting adequate sleep is very important to looking well rested. But did you know that sleeping in the right position makes a huge difference as well? Sleeping on your stomach can result in the pooling of the fluid towards the face leaving you looking puffy in the morning even if you got 8 hours of sleep. Sleeping on the side can do the same not to mention the wrinkles you can get from the pillow. The best sleeping position is on your back with your head slightly elevated. This encourages regular blood flow and allows fluid to drain away from the face. Unfortunately, we have not found yet a way to stay in this position all night long.
Use anti-inflammatory products on your face
