This new technique combines mechanical exfoliation using the microdermabrasion machine with chemical exfoliation using an acid such as AHA, salicylic acid, Jessner's solution or light TCA. By preceding the application of the acid with microdermabrasion, the effect of the acid peel is enhanced. The peeling agent is carefully selected by a trained skin care specialist based on skin type, tolerance to the peeling agent, and thickness of the skin. Microdermabrasion should be combined with an acid peel only after the acid peel has been performed on its own, and a tolerance level has been determined. When performed correctly, this advanced technique offers almost instant gratification with minimal discomfort and downtime. Micro-dual skin peeling can significantly improve pigmentation irregularities, diminish fine lines and improve the texture of the skin. To achieve maximum results, more than one treatment may be required at an average cost of $150-$175 per session. Some skin care clinics offer packages, which lower the cost of individual treatments.
