BEAUTY BUZZ:
Eyelash Extensions

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes curved to resemble a natural eyelash. Designed to enhance length and thickness of your lashes, Eyelash Extensions are bonded to individual eyelashes one lash at a time for a natural look and feel. When applied properly, they can last up to two months, depending on the natural growth cycle of your lashes. Touch-ups are recommended every 2-4 weeks after initial full set application to replace any lashes that have fallen off and to maintain a natural, full appearance.

You won’t need to baby your Eyelash Extensions. In fact, you can swim and exercise without worry. But there are trade-offs. Creams, makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing oils can loosen the bond with the lashes. Also waterproof mascara is not recommended for use, as it will dissolve the bond.

Eyelash Extensions should be applied only by a trained professional. The cost for the initial application of a full set of lashes can range from $200 to $500. Application takes between 2 to 3 hours. Monthly touch ups can range from $45 to $60 and generally take between 30 and 60 minutes.

If Eyelash Extensions sound too pricey or time consuming to you, here’s a great alternative: Eyelash Lipocils Conditioning Gel by Talika. While results are not as dramatic as those of Eyelash Extensions, at $40 a tube, they are well worth the price. Simply apply the gel twice per day to clean lashes and follow with mascara, if desired. Results are noticeable in 4 to 6 weeks. For more information, or to purchase Talika Eyelash Lipocils Conditioning Gel, click here.
