Summer can be a demanding time
for your skin. Keeping your face looking fresh can be, for most of us, a frustrating
challenge during those long, hot, humid days. Fortunately, there are steps you
can take to avoid the shiny greasy look that is as sure a sign of summer as
swimsuits and watermelons. Here are a few tips on how to maintain a dewy, shine-free
complexion during the dog days of summer:
- Choose a gel cleanser over
a lotion or cream cleanser to help remove oil, dirt and make-up residue.
For
that great and squeaky-clean effect, try iS Clinical Cleansing
Complex or,
for oily skin, DDFGlycolic
Exfoliating Wash.
- If you have oily skin, use
a toner to control oil production in the t-zone area. We strongly recommend
DDFGlycolic10%
Toning Complex.
- If you must use a moisturizer,
use a very light, oil-free variety -- and only on those areas of your face
prone to dryness, such as the cheeks. We suggest DDF Ultra-Lite
Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew.
- Instead of a regular foundation,
try a lighter, oil-free tinted base. We love Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer, which comes with SPF20 sun protection.
It provides just the right amount of hydration, sun protection and light,
natural-looking color. And you could skip the moisturizer altogether.
- Avoid heavy concealers and powders.
They can clog the pores and contribute to breakouts and blackheads. Control
shine by applying translucent powder over shine-prone areas of your face,
such as the nose, chin and forehead. We like Benefit Get
Even or Clinique Transluscent Loose Powder.
- For those hard-to-control, especially
oily areas, lift off excess oil with blotting paper and follow with pressed
powder. We like Clear & Clean Clear Touch Oil-Absorbing
Sheets.
- For the ultimate
in ph balance and oil control, we highly recommend Dr. Dennis
Gross Skincare Alpha-Beta
Home Peel System used in the morning 3-4 times a week. It
will leave your skin looking dewy, fresh and shine-free. We absolutely
swear by
it ourselves!
