BEAUTY BUZZ:
Vaniqa: your answer to facial hair
The new prescription cream Vaniqa may finally put an end to your battles with facial hair. Researchers claim that Vaniqa, used twice a day, morning and night, works by blocking the enzyme within the hair follicle that facilitates hair growth. Clinical studies have shown that facial hair thins and becomes less noticeable within 4-6 weeks of the start of use.
Unlike lasers or waxing, which can irritate the skin or cause hyperpigmentation, there have been no side effects associated with Vaniqa. The only known downside is that if you stop using the cream, the hair grows back.
At this stage, Vaniqa has been tested only on facial hair. Researchers have yet to determine its effectiveness on other parts of the body. Vaniqa is available by prescription only and is not covered by most insurance plans. To find out more about it, consult your physician.
